Empowering Youth to Lead the Way in Community Health through MULAT-LIGTAS Training!

MULAT-LIGTAS Training

On July 21st, the Santo Cristo Health Youth Group—a team of health volunteers that we’ve been training—took the lead in organizing a transformative First Aid Training for Botehan workers, and youth from Barangay Santo Cristo, at Green Earth Bottle Trading in Pulilan, Bulacan. With 28 individuals in attendance, this session marked a significant milestone in our empowerment program, as the youth volunteers we’ve mentored are now taking charge of their community’s health.

Key Learning Objectives:

  1. Identifying and understanding the role of essential items in a standard first aid kit, like bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze pads, and more.
  2. Learning when and how to use the first aid kit in real-life emergencies such as wounds, sprains, insect bites, and allergic reactions.
  3. Applying safety measures while administering first aid to protect both the responder and the injured.
  4. Gaining practical experience by handling simulated emergencies, ensuring readiness and confidence in real-life scenarios.

Empowered Youth Taking Charge:

One of our proudest achievements is seeing the Santo Cristo Health Youth Group take the lead in organizing and facilitating this session. This reflects one of the core objectives of our empowerment program: to equip community members, especially the youth, with the skills and knowledge they need to take ownership of their community’s health and safety.

The Santo Cristo Health Youth are now confident leaders, capable of providing first aid and monitoring the health of Botehan workers and their families. This is a huge step toward building a resilient, self-sufficient community, which lies at the heart of everything we do.

Outcomes and Impact:

Participants showed increased confidence and a better grasp of first aid techniques.

Our health volunteers are now leading the charge in ensuring community health and safety, taking on greater responsibility with the knowledge and tools they’ve gained.

This training empowered the community, making them better prepared to handle emergencies both at work in the Botehans and at home.

This MULAT-LIGTAS session was more than just training; it was about passing the torch of leadership to a new generation of health volunteers who are now ready to take on the challenge of keeping their community safe. This success is a testament to the power of empowerment and how we are building a healthier, more resilient future together.

A huge thanks to the Santo Cristo Health Youth Group, KKFI health program staff led by GMF Joyce Ngaha with the support of Ms. Renz Lorbes, and our partners and donors who provide an enabling environment for projects like these to thrive. Let’s continue working together to strengthen our communities. ✨
